Laws and taxes

Although it is relatively easy for foreign investors to own property in the USA, it can be complicated and often confusing to wade through the legalities and taxes imposed by the government. You will need an Individual Tax Identification Number (ITIN) and your property manager may be required to withhold 30% of rent revenue to insure that you file an annual tax return. To avoid this costly requirement, you can submit a form W-8ECI which notifies the property manager and the IRS that you will be submitting the annual tax return. You may choose to own property directly in Arizona, or you may opt to invest through a US LLC (Limited Liability Company).
